Tabata training is rapidly becoming one of the best forms of exercise, especially if your target is body fat loss. It’s either done as a 4-minute routine, or an 8-minute routine, and it’s a full-body exercise. You work harder than ever before, with minimal resting time, which is why it’s a great calorie burner. You do 20 seconds of exercise at your highest possible output, followed by a 10-second rest. This is then repeated 7-8 times, and you start off feeling great, but the struggle soon kicks in.
Doing such high intensity, aerobic exercise is a great way to lose body fat. You can also do much more work, in comparison to standard exercises, because it’s such a short work out. You get better results, and you get them quicker.
No time? No problem!
Tabata is perfect for busy people. There are lots of 15 minutes HiiT routines out there, but some people even struggle to find that length of time free. With Tabata, there’s no reason why you can’t do it. Four minutes of your day is nothing, and if you can’t fit four minutes in, then you’re just making excuses.
Doing too many long sessions of cardio can lead to muscle deterioration, while Tabata actually increases levels of testosterone, which helps to preserve muscle. You want to lose fat, not muscle. If your goal is to gain muscle, then you can adapt the workout to be less about cardio, and more about resistance. We also have some brilliant supplements to help increase your muscle mass as well. Paired those supplements with Tabata, and you’re on to a winner.
Before Starting Tabata
Always plan what you are going to do, and always ensure that you warm up beforehand. There are several free apps that you can download, which act as a timer, making it much easier for you to follow. Another critical point to remember is that Tabata is all about working as hard as you can for 20 seconds. So if you aren’t getting the results you want, and you notice that you are only managing three burpees in 20 seconds…you need to up your game. BIG TIME.
Tabata training is brilliant for building up endurance, gaining strength, and losing weight. It’s advisable to start with just 4 minutes and work your way up to 8 minutes. Too much too soon is never a good way to do things. If you find yourself struggling, take a look through the supplements that we have on offer; they often give you that extra boost that you need.
