If you are getting back into your regime, or if you are planning on a new regime, you must ensure that you are safe, ready, and prepared. Check out our top tips to keep you safe during the times of COVID.
Staying safe
You may have to book slots instead of just turning up, and you will also have to follow the social distancing rules. The gym may look different to what you are used to, but rest assured, they are there to help everyone.
Don't forget to warm-up
If you haven't been able to get to the gym recently, then please don't overdo it when you do get back to it, it's really important to take your time and remember the things to do and things not to do when you are working out.
Hydration is key
We all know that you need to drink enough fluids to make yourself healthy and hydrated, but drinking too much can make you seriously ill. Ensure that you are hydrated before your workout and then continue to drink little and often to ensure that your body has got everything that it needs.
Health Needs
If you are asthmatic, then it's very important that you have your inhaler with you at all times. If you are asthmatic but you haven't exercised in some time then suddenly starting to exercise may induce an attack.
Also, if you are diabetic, then you should watch out for confusion, drowsiness, faintness and excessive sweating because all of those could indicate hypoglycemia.
Cooling down is just as important as the warm-up; do not overdo things, do not overexert yourself, and make sure that you're not pushing your body too much because all that would lead to is possible damage and exhaustion.
