Changing your outlook and your goals can have a huge impact on your life and the life of those around you. If you want to be the strongest version of yourself, then ultimately the changes have to be within yourself. So where to begin? Below are some hints of where you can start the process for becoming the person you know you can be.
Get out of your comfort zone
When you step out of your comfort zone, you will feel a buzz of excitement. There’s nothing like a little fear to wake up your senses. There are so many skills to be learned in the world. Why not learn a new one? In the beginning, it will be difficult at first but it will keep your mind focused. Exercising your brain by learning new things will also improve your concentration skills and help you to sleep better, so choose something to sink your teeth into and leave your comfort zone behind for a while.
Set clear goals
It is very important that you have clear goals that you can see every day, so write them down and place them somewhere that you’ll see often. Next, write down the steps you need to take in order to reach that goal. So if it is building muscle by next summer, work out how many months away that is and how much you would need to work out daily in order to achieve this. Make a chart with a picture of the goal at the top and boxes to represent each month you need to work out. When you achieve your monthly goals, tick a box and you will see your goal is getting nearer. You can promise yourself little treats to motivate you to reach all of your goals sooner than you think.
Get outside
Humans now spend around 90% of their lives indoors, the most ever and it’s only increasing as we get lazier. However, humans NEED essential vitamins and minerals from the sun, and outdoor oxygen. When is the last time you went on a 30 minute walk outdoors? When is the last time you lay in the sun, that wasn’t a 2 week holiday in another part of the world? People love to think that with age comes decline, in happiness, in energy, when mostly, it because as a child they were constantly in school, with breaks all day getting exposure to the outside. Remind yourself to regularly get back outside and press the well-deserved reset button once in a while.
Stop negative self-talk
People these days love a good moan, i mean it’s only human. If you challenge yourself to speak positively about a situation rather than complain, it will have a positive effect on your life. Like the saying goes, our thoughts become words, words become actions and actions become who we are. If a situation presents itself where you can either complain, or see a positive, try the positive. The best coaches on the planet all agree that what you think is what you feel. Negative thoughts create a negative body, so choose to stop the cycle.
Stop overthinking
Did you know, professional athletes only have around 1000 thoughts a day? However the average person has about 5000. This just goes to show that more direct thoughts, are creating champions. Overthinking kills more dreams than failure ever could, so instead of pondering, just do it! You’ll be so surprised at how much easier life will become.
